BLIND

Too many of us walk around in darkness,
not seeing what we should
Only depending on our weak eyesight to get what we could
Judging others by the way they look and not by how they act
Unfortunately I too have been very guilty of that
Focusing on the wealthy, the beauty not the wise
Choosing our friends even lovers only by what we see with our eyes
Because when someone treats you kindly, do you really care
About their complexion or the texture of their hair
Or who they worship when they kneel down to pray
Is it God, Allah, Jehovah, Buddha, Krishna or the sun that rises every day
Or maybe before you accept a gesture of kindness you inspect how someone is dressed
Does the tie match the shoes or the shoes with the dress and do they walk confidently with an air of finesse
Before accepting help from someone who is pushing you out of the way of an oncoming car
Do you think how dare he touch me with his big nose and ugly looking scar
Or do you wonder how much money someone has, and what they can do for you
Isn't what they are currently doing you should pay more attention to
So I say this to you as well as to myself
Do not judge solely by appearances, yourself nor anybody else
