Can you hear me?

Screaming to be heard
In this loud and noisy world
Where honesty is second best
To lies and deceitfulness
Where trying is not good enough
To survive you have to be tough
Accept the fixed hand dealt with a smile
Even though it hurts so much inside
To make them feel better about their life
They’ll inflict problems, confusion and strife
A false smile plastered upon their face
As they revel in their own discomfort with distaste
Not looking beyond what they get
But come tomorrow, they most often will regret
Because you cannot be happy while causing others’ hurt
Or trying to make others feel less than what they are worth

Eventually everyone gets tired of the façade
They’ll one day realize their entire being was a charade
Some may hold on because they don’t have a choice
They’ve gone too long without using their own voice
So they don’t know how to survive on their own
They confuse being lonely with standing alone
They prefer to go along with the intricately spun lies
Rather than stand strong, accept the truth and open their eyes
But life goes on and time passes
While they spend their lives forever trying to please the masses
